Design a community people don't want to leave.
A four-week cohort for people building online communities, memberships, and onboarding. You bring one you're actually working on and develop the strategy behind it, alongside others who are in the arena doing this work.
Community work is hard, often lonely, and easy to feel under-resourced. This is where you build the strategy to move through it: real examples of what's worked and what hasn't, metrics that actually fit your community, AI-smart systems that lighten the load without losing the human touch, and tested tools you can run at any size.
When it runs
The next cohort starts October 5 and runs through October 30. Live sessions are Thursdays at 11am ET, with drop-in office hours twice a week.
The four weeks
Week 1 · Foundations. Purpose, who it's really for, and your strategy.
Week 2 · Orientation. How people find you and arrive: acquisition, referrals, and what the first 30, 60, and 90 days look like.
Week 3 · Participation. The rituals and artifacts that make your community yours, and what to actually measure for engagement (a lurker doesn't have to be a bad word).
Week 4 · Return. Retention over churn, leveling up your internal leaders and champions, and the systems and AI that protect your time for the human touch.
Everything lives in a Notion hub, with a Slack cohort between sessions and tested tools, frameworks, and AI prompts you keep.
Who it's for
People launching a community from scratch, pivoting one whose goals have changed, building connective tissue between programs and events, delegating to internal leaders, taming a community that's eating their energy to moderate, or grappling with the business model. Works whether your community is 50 people or 50,000.

We love a tool, template, or framework that can support the magically messy and human work that we do. This kit is the stuff we actually use — the spreadsheets we open every time, the questions we ask before we plan a single activity, the workbooks that help us shape gatherings people carry with them.
What’s included
Experience design tools: The how-to of shaping a gathering. Activities, templates, planning checklists, and our belonging gut-checks — the questions we ask to make sure we're not missing the people in the room.
Templates + Estimators: Not sure how much wine to get for your gathering? We can do the math for you. Handy spreadsheets we always pull up — for drinks, food, seating, timing. They haven't steered us wrong.
Frameworks & workbooks The deeper thinking, in formats you can actually use. Includes our Belonging Triangle DIY workbook, a guided walkthrough for shaping a gathering with intention.
A four-week cohort for people who bring others together: offsites, retreats, dinners, weekenders, reunions, event series, conferences. You bring one you're actually planning, and we design it together, week by week.
The methodology is drawn from 15+ years of designing experiences, facilitation, and belonging. You leave with a Gathering Playbook: a documented plan with decisions, owners, and timelines, and a method you'll use for every gathering after.
When it runs
The next cohort starts September 14 and runs through October 9.
Live sessions are Wednesdays at 11am ET, with drop-in office hours Tuesdays and Thursdays.
How it runs
Week 1 · Foundations. Who it's really for, and why it matters enough to show up.
Week 2 · Designing the experience. Your non-negotiables, the shape of it, and the moments that set the tone before it begins.
Week 3 · Bringing it to life. Map the moments, balance the experience, and pull from a roster of ways people participate.
Week 4 · Launch & continuity. How you bring it into the world, and what continued connection looks like.
Four live calls (~60 min), office hours twice a week, a Slack community, and a Notion hub. A cohort small enough that we see your work up close.
Who it's for
People designing a retreat, offsite, recurring dinner or event series, team kickoff, reunion, or conference. You don't need to be an experienced facilitator. You need a gathering you're planning and the willingness to look at it with a new lens.
